Manga Drawing Practice: Life of the Party

I’m still trying to improve my anime characters. This character is from Christopher Hart’s book “The Master Guide to Drawing Anime”. It took me about an hour and change, I think. The original is in grayscale, but I decided to try my hand at coloring it. Right now “Paper Planes” by M.I.A is playing in the background in my room. I think it’s a happy coincidence.

I was catching up on some anime shows the other day and I got the urge to try and draw Megumin from “Konosuba”. It’s not as good, but I think I did ok for just glancing at the character a few times.

I worked on my novel some more, however I didn’t start on it until after lunch. So my whole day is running later than I want. Anyway, I wrote another two pages. It was easy than yesterday so that’s a plus.

Yesterday, I started practicing Korean after a long hiatus. I have no use for it in my daily life. It’s not like I’m planning a trip there. I went there years ago on a short vacation. The only words I knew then were Kamsamnida and anyonghaseyo. When I got a hotel none of the staff spoke English or Spanish. Luckily, one of the clerks knew Japanese so I was able to communicate with her. In hindsight, I should have started with Japanese, but I figured English is more widely spoken and Spanish was the second most widely spoken language in the world at the time. I think now it might be Mandarin Chinese, but I digress. What I want to say is it’s handy to know more than one language. Who knows, maybe I’ll go back again someday. I really liked the food there.
